"Any recipe that calls for flour and liquid (water, milk, juice, or the like; not a liquid fat or liquid sweetener) is fair game for substituting discard starter."


Don't forget to use some King Arthur All-Purpose flour for all your baking needs!

      • Get rid of the buttermilk and flour.

      • Instead, add in 1 cup (227g) sourdough discard in step 3!

      • Get rid of the All-Purpose Flour, Milk and reduce the Whole Wheat flour down to 1/2 cup.

      • Instead add in 1 cup (227g) sourdough discard to the mixing bowk in step 2 when mixing the wet ingredients together!

    • Sourdough Discard Substitution:

      • Reduce the flour to 1/2 cup and milk to 1/2 cup

      • Add in 1 cup (227g) Sourdough Discard to eggs, milk, and oil.

  6. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

    • Sourdough Discard Substitution:

      • Reduce flour to 1 1/4 cup

      • Add 1 cup (227g) discard to the pumpkin, eggs, and vanilla.

      • instead of making traditional cookies, due to the texture of the batter from the discard, pour into a 9x13 pan. Making Cookie Bars!

      • Vanilla Extract
